Tori Jespersen at the State DECA Competition

Congratulations to Tori Jespersen (Class of 2024), who has advanced to the Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) International Career Development Conference (ICDC)!

Tori placed 4th in the State Competition for the Entrepreneurship Series event. During this competition, students are given mock business scenarios by judges. Students are scored on their ability to determine needs, identify markets, utilize marketing research, identify sources of capital, and use management skills in their presentation. For each scenario, she had 10 minutes to prepare a response and had to cover five performance indicators.

DECA has inspired Tori to solidify her plans to focus on business and entrepreneurship after graduation. Tori shared this about her experience, “DECA has been a great opportunity to grow my understanding of how the world of business runs and has created opportunities for me to be put in different business scenarios, similar to ones I would have in the real world. I knew I wanted to pursue business after high school, but I had a vague understanding of all of it. Through taking Intro to Business this year and the several DECA experiences I've gotten to partake in, I have gained a ton of knowledge revolving around business.”

The ICDC will take place in late April in Anaheim, CA. DECA is looking for business sponsors and donations to help them attend the International competition. If you are able to help support the program, please contact Annie Dahl at annie.dahl@isd832.net
